Dave Moura started what is now known as re:fab back in 1992. We have grown a lot since then and even though he has always been our Owner/CEO, he has also been a painter. Even now, Dave jumps in when needed within our estimating, sales, and project management departments. So, Dave has been and still is all over the New England paint industry for 31 years.
At first, Dave started in the paint business to help pay for school. However, once he entered the workforce, he realized he would rather be an entrepreneur and so he expanded from there.

Dave’s areas of expertise in the world of paint is solving big problems and coming up with customized solutions for each one. Right after 9/11, Dave and our team got the temporary headquarters for American Express painted in just a week. The World Headquarters for American Express was right next to the World Trade Center and was severely damaged. They had to move out fast. Dave and our team had 80+ painters working 24 hours a day to paint and get over a million square feet of space ready to move in. 882 doors needed to be painted along with countless walls, trims, and ceilings.
Because of his expertise and leadership his staff, Dave has won just about every award from our previous national franchise partnership. However, he never takes any of the credit for it because he truly believes it was all the hard work of his team and his family.
Dave’s Keys to Success
Dave believes referrals are the best way to get in front of a new customer. Maybe that is why 80% of re:fab’s business comes from pervious customers and referrals, and 93% of previous customers return to us with their next projects.
We asked Dave what he believes is the key to developing customer relationships. He said, “being candid and honest up front and doing want you said you were going to do.” If you know Dave, you know those words are true.
Dave truly believes that re:fab’s painting experience is unmatched. With 31 years of experience himself, plus over 150 years of combined team experience, re:fab knows how to get your project done on time, and on budget. Dave believes in telling the customer the truth, what can and can’t be done, and seeing the whole thing through until you are satisfied. “We are not perfect, but we will not walk away until the client is happy.”
Dave’s favorite color is red. If he could, he would paint everything red. When not in the office or on job sites, you can find him with his family and dogs. Dave’s oldest son, Matt (President of re:fab) just had his first child, a little girl named Camila. This makes Dave a new grandpa, and he is loving it!
Dave may have 31 years of experience, however re:fab’s experience doesn’t stop there.
