Paul Gray got his start in the painting industry 36 years ago as a painter for a Westerly RI-based contractor. A year later, he started painting for College Pro. Paul went into painting because he needed a job and wanted to learn a skill. After 36 years, we think it’s safe to say he learned how to paint!
Over the last three decades, Paul has been in many positions within the painting industry, from painter, foreman, franchise manager, franchise owner, sales and operations manager, estimator, and everything in-between. Being in several departments within painting industry, Paul has gained the knowledge and the know-how when it comes to all things paint.
Paul has also worked for many painting contractors, from local contractors in Connecticut, to national ones all over New England. Paul has earned many awards from previous companies, including Northeast Commercial Sales Associate of the year, twice.
We asked Paul what career advice he would give himself when he first started his career, his answer was, “hang in there because you can do this!”
Paul’s biggest career accomplishment is making connections that have lasted. He enjoys working with his friends and clients to get their projects done on time and on budget. Even when short on painters, or even when the pandemic hit. Because of these connections, he has worked on some iconic New England places, such as Mystic Seaport.
Paul enjoys meeting clients face to face… with donuts. Keeping in constant contact with them. Whether it’s stopping by, golfing, or connecting at business after-hours events or over food and drinks, he likes to get to know his clients so he can know how to better serve them.
Paul’s favorite paint color is orange, with purple being a close 2nd. When he is not painting, or thinking about painting, he likes to run. He runs 25-40 races per year and is looking to do more than 50 this year! So far, he is at 6!
