At re:fab, we are committed to enriching the lives of the youngsters who live in our operational area, as well as to helping our community grow and thrive. Recently, we participated in a winter coat and hat drive in conjunction with the Marion Institute to ensure a few more children would stay warm this winter season. We are happy to report more than 30 hats and coats were collected and distributed to the first-grade class at Hayden McFadden Elementary School last month.
As many of you know, the blizzard known as “Nemo” hit New Bedford, MA quite hard and left more than 10,700 residents without power and the city declaring a state of emergency from the onset of the storm. In fact, the town is still recovering and attempting to return business to usual. We are delighted that the first-grade class at Hayden McFadden Elementary School had one less thing to worry about as the storm hit. For some of these students, the coat or hat they received may be the only one they were given this year, and we are thrilled to have been able to provide these items.
Similar to our art and school supply drive, which was completed in December, the winter coat and hat drive was part of an ongoing effort in conjunction with the Marion Institute, whose mission it is to identify and promote programs that seek to enhance life for the Earth and its inhabitants. Located in Marion, MA, the Institute works with many businesses throughout the community to further enrich the lives of our residents.
Our team at re:fab is excited to continue this partnership with the Marion Institute and with the first grade class at Hayden McFadden Elementary School, and looks forward to many more activities in 2013.
