Child Care Center Remodel: Creating a SAFE Space for Children to Learn and Grow
Over a year ago, we stepped into what was once an abandoned, rundown building. Our client had a vision—a dream of creating a large, centralized child care center that could consolidate some of their current operations and offer an enhanced environment for learning and play. As we reviewed the “before” photos, we couldn’t help but recall the strong, unpleasant smell left behind by the former occupants (let’s just say… campers). It wasn’t pretty—but we saw potential. This day care remodel was no easy task!
Today, we’re proud to say: the dream became a reality. What was once neglected has been transformed into a safe, state-of-the-art space designed to support childhood development and bring joy to kids and peace of mind to parents.
Scope of the Child Care Center Remodel
This wasn’t just a cosmetic update—it was a full-scale remodel from the ground up. Here’s what the project involved:

Complete demolition of the existing interior, including beams, pipes, wires, floors—you name it. We stripped everything down to the bare shell.

Foundation drainage and structural repairs, especially to areas where an old addition had been removed.

New construction of a two-story addition, featuring:

First floor: classrooms
-
Second floor: offices (later converted to classrooms—more on that below)

Exterior envelope upgrade:

New siding, windows, and doors
-
Full roof replacement

Front façade finished with colorful stucco stripes (a signature design element we’ve used in past projects for this client)

Vinyl siding applied to the rest of the structure

Change Orders: Evolving with the Client’s Needs
As with any major renovation, plans evolved. One of the most significant changes was the near-complete rebuild of the back foundation to ensure long-term stability.
Another key pivot: the second-floor office spaces were converted into additional classrooms to better serve growing enrollment needs. Flexibility and communication were key to adapting as the client’s vision grew—and we were happy to meet the challenge.
What We Delivered
We handled everything but the landscaping and the playground, which the client is now working on completing. Here’s a summary of what we replaced, installed, or rebuilt:

Walls, doors, windows (including interior windows)

Subfloors and flooring

All new siding and exterior ramps

New stairs, decks, and structural addition

In short, we delivered a comprehensive day care remodel that left no stone unturned.
From Dream to Reality
This was a major project—but thanks to our skilled and experienced remodeling team, the transformation was a success. More importantly, our client is thrilled, and the children now have a safe, bright, and inspiring space to learn, play, and grow.
