At re:fab, we believe that a company’s core values are what define its culture and giving back to our community is an integral part of that culture. In fact, it is a culture that permeates through to our employees, our vendors, and even to our clients. We take great pride in partnering with people and organizations that share our unique perspective and carry out our mission by initiating programs, as well as supporting existing ones, that bring change to the communities where our clients, employees, and partners live and work.
From volunteering our time and painting skills to the less fortunate, to spearheading coat drives for school children, giving back is an important part of our history and our future as a company. While there are numerous sponsorships and events that we have taken part in over the past year, there are two recent events that we would like to share with you.
This past May, coinciding with Keller Williams’ RED Day and partnering with the Urban League of Rhode Island, we took part in renovating one of the Urban League’s Homeless Shelters. RED Day is an initiative started by real estate brokerage Keller Williams aimed at celebrating their year-round commitment to improving their local communities. On the second Thursday in May each year, tens of thousands of associates across North America participate in a wide range of projects, devoting time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighborhoods in which they serve. At re:fab we were happy to participate in this year’s event! Armed with paint donated by Benjamin Moore, we were able to repaint the interior and exterior of the homeless shelter, which was located in Providence, Rhode Island. The Urban League of Rhode Island was thrilled to have one less thing to worry about, giving them more time to focus on the needs of the shelter guests.
Another project we were thrilled to take part in was Jeremiah’s Project. Jeremiah is a 12 year-old Wareham, Massachusetts boy suffering from cerebral palsy. Both he and his younger brother are under the care of their Grandmother, Cindy. While Cindy is doing her best to care for the boys, having a home that is not handicap accessible was causing problems and hindering the care she could give Jeremiah. On April 26th, the family was picked up from their home and taken on a week’s vacation, under the idea that small renovations would be done to their home. Little did they know their entire home would be gutted and renovated to make it more accessible for Jeremiah. Our team at re:fab was able to volunteer our time to paint the entire interior and exterior of the home. We were delighted when the family was reunited with their home. Everyone involved in the project shed tears of joy and thanks.
We share these projects with you not to boast our accomplishments, but to give you an insight into the culture of giving back that we have here at re:fab. Having been a commercial painting company in Massachusetts for more than twenty years, we feel it is our obligation and duty to give back to the community that has done so much for us.
